These challenges occur in your formicarium, where your customization is applied. It is recommended to do them first and at the right order to build up your colony before attempting the Formicarium Challenges.Īfter beating formicarium Challenges you can move on with the other missions and unlock other ants in the story. The customization with Royal Jelly is not applied to these missions because they involve different colonies to your formicarium colony. Doing it the first time grants you a bonus amount of resources.Įach set of missions let you play as the newly introduced ant species. Harder difficulty or challenge mode grants some more.
After you have beaten a mission, you will be asked to receive extra of one of the three types of resources. You gain Royal Jelly, Territory Points and Food to improve your colony every time you beat a mission. Hovering your cursor over each hexagon symbol will show you details about that mission. You can click on the Ant symbol in the top left corner of the screen to open the mission menu. These choices are reversible using extra Royal Jelly, but the stats modifications cannot be reduced. You can click on each unit's symbol lets you modify their stats even further. You can purchase either of the two from each side. You have four abilities for each unit, two at each side. The choice is permanent through the entire story mode. You must pick either mortar or rapid-fire wood ant, either taunt or stun leafcutter major and either pervasive or vigorous fire ant. Royal Jelly lets you unlock various units and their special abilities, as well as customizing their stats. Each Territory Point lets you dig one tile in the formicarium. Royal Jelly and Territory Points are unique resources in this mode. You can only have a certain maximum number of ants before each Formicarium Challenge. After each challenge or mission, the scientists feed the colony seeds and live creatures. The colony must establish itself in the formicarium and survive a multitude of challenges that the two scientists create. The primary mode of the game is the story mode where the player takes the ownership of a gene-thief colony observed by two scientists.
